I’m currently focused on the design of a fictitious pocket knife image. The concept necessitates the inclusion of visual elements reflecting complex political and cultural themes. Right now, I’m working through a few ideas.
Formulating Symbolic Representation
I’m now diving into the specific visual language. Theme one will explore how to visually represent skepticism of US politics and the EU’s embrace of its own sovereignty, coupled with rejection of US products. The second, contrasting theme involves the over-regulation and prohibition of modern knife designs, balanced against the appeal of traditional, older styles. The goal is to convey these concepts through the knife’s design. The image format needs to be square.
Visualizing the Conceptual Framework
I’m now detailing the specifics of the pocket knife’s design. I am now refining the specific symbols used.
Developing Visual Metaphors
I’ve successfully incorporated visual metaphors into the depiction of the pocket knife. The central element, a modern one-handed knife, is now embellished with specific engravings and stickers, visually representing skepticism towards US politics. I’ve included a smaller “grandfather’s knife” for contrast, along with background documents to add depth to the critique of overregulation. The square format allows for flexible cropping.
Jetzt bin ich ja weder Experte für KI – obwohl wahrscheinlich schon überdurschnittlich interessiert und eingelesen – noch für Kognitionswissenschaften, das (auf Anhieb) ausgegebene Bild lässt für mich aber doch folgende Interpretationen zu:
- Das Thema Sprache als Alleinstellungsmerkmal für den Menschen ist gegessen. “Die Maschinen” sprechen und verstehen uns.
- Kreativität ist eigentlich auch nichts anderes, als ein Rekombinieren von Bestehendem – erweitert um ein (individuelles bis geniales) Epsilon. (Wird’s zu kreativ, ist’s nicht mehr gesellschaftsfähig und wird verboten/weggesperrt…)
- Gegenwärtiges “Big-Tech” (egal von welchem Kontinent aus!) ist mit unserem mittelfristigen Fortbestand auf dem Raumschiff Erde nicht vereinbar. (Hier geht es aber nicht um ein Verbot bzw. Niederregulieren, sondern im Idealfall um einen Verzicht aus Einsicht. Letzteres ist leider eher unwahrscheinlich.)
Also: Das Messer, als eines der ältesten und ursprünglichen Werkzeuge des Menschen, ist nicht das Problem. Das negative Spektrum seiner Wirkung ist äußerst beschränkt. Und ist es nicht das Messer, das zur individuellen Gewaltverstärkung herangezogen wird, so findet sich fast beliebiger Ersatz unter anderen Alltagsgegenständen.
Wir sollten uns eher über die Entwicklung und den Ge- und Missbrauch unserer neuesten Werkzeuge Gedanken machen. Solange wir dazu noch in der Lage sind.
